New York City-based vocalist, composer and educator Sarah Elizabeth Charles has been molding/evolving her artistic sound/message throughout the course of her career. She has recorded on countless projects, released two critically acclaimed albums with her band, “Red” in 2012 and “Inner Dialogue” in 2015 and is currently working on her third record. Her musical journey has taken her through various focal points from paying homage to her influences to an exploration of her inner world and motivations. As Sarah crafts her newest recording project, she is looking to the outer world for influence, allowing her lyrical material to speak to interactive, social and political realms and choosing to use her stage as a place where she can make a statement in all of these arenas.

When asked about her newest single, "March To Revolution", Sarah describes how she is now choosing to use her stage as a musician/composer.

“I’ve taken a lot of time to explore my creative identity and make a statement in regards to who I am as a person. This will be ever-evolving in and of itself of course. But I feel the need to now speak to something larger than myself. There is so much happening today both in our world and right here in our own country. Battles rooted in war, racial identity, cultural practice, wealth, religion, education, etc. are being fought. The front lines of these fights seem to be growing closer to us all every day.
As artists, we have an opportunity to have our voices heard in a unique way and with “March To Revolution” I’m choosing to share my thoughts and feelings about the danger that lies in a lack of empathy and an unwillingness to recognize one’s own bias. It’s been enormously helpful for me in my own life to recognize my own bias. We all have it and my lyrics speak to that and call for a revolution...specifically a revolution of love. It must sound a bit crazy and unrealistic, right, a revolution of love? I don't believe that it is though. We're living in a scary time and with this track and video I’ve decided that I want to stand for something. I'm scared of what the future holds. I believe that kindness, intelligence and open communication is the path to peace, strength and understanding. I believe that hate and intolerance is the root of stagnation and violence. I believe that in order to move forward as a society and as human beings, we have to take the time and choose to accept and learn from one another."

With her lyrics, Sarah calls for people to come forward and fight for the real thoughts, the real minds, the real hearts and the real kind. She asks, “Will we let our fear rule? Will we let reason die? When we know what we march toward. Will we fight a revolution?”. These are questions that many of us have asked ourselves. It’s difficult to find the answers or to even know where to start, but perhaps we can all begin by finding a way to admit that these struggles exist and that it seems we can no longer sit idly by. Perhaps we can communicate through music and art in a way that has proven too trying when attempted through other mediums.

lyrics

Marching on to the ocean,
I feel salt stinging in my eyes.
Intensity of the current,
I feel pulling me side to side.

Ignorance and emotion in the atmosphere.
The danger i palpably present.

Will we let our fear rule?
Will we let reason die?
When we know what we march toward,
Will we fight a revolution?

Revolution of the real thoughts.
Revolution of the real minds.
Revolution of the real hearts.
Revolution of the real kind.

The war of words has begun.
So many songs have been left unsung.
Sinking in a pool of dangerous ideals.
The time to be passive is done.

Revolution,
Revolution,
Revolution,
Of Love...

Revolution,
Revolution,
Revolution,
Of Love...

Revolution,
Revolution,
Revolution,
Of Love...

Revolution,
Revolution,
Revolution,
Of Love...
